Review: Peeps by Scott Westerfeld

Manhattan! Brooklyn! Vampires! Secret societies! Elvis! Subway tunnels! Meat! Transplanted Texans! What’s not to love?!?

Well, parasites. And cats. And Ashlee Simpson and Garth Brooks. Eh, okay, I can handle the Garth Brooks.

Westerfeld’s an admitted Buffy fan, and I can’t imagine how hard it was to come up with a whole new vampire mythos outside of the Whedonverse, especially one so complex and believable as this one, but he’s done it. And he’s created a new fangirl in me. Wow. It’s equally gross - fascinating - enjoyable. I loved this one. LOVED it. And there’s a sequel! *hop hop hop*
